This new industrial warehouse facility operates 24 hours per day 7 days a week. This space was wide open almost measuring in a square. This interior space also included an 80,000 square foot cooler within the warehouse space. 4 lighting systems were analyzed before the design was selected. 400watt metal halide pulse start high-bay luminaires were installed for this very busy warehouse and was completed at a load density of .63 watts per square foot. The operation provided a workplace for bulk product storage, personnel traffic and forklift traffic. Providing a safe environment was very important. The staging areas were illuminated at a higher lighting level to accommodate the specific activity of unloading and shipping the product out of bay doors on both sides of the facility. No automated lighting control was provided because there was no way to define the different areas. B.C. Hydro provided a large incent payback for this project.
